Doing Business In Apapa
Apapa is a vital part of the Lagos economy. Lagos State is the largest city in the world.
It is the leading non-oil sector contributor to Nigeria’s GDP. Overall, Lagos contributes about 30% to the nation’s GDP. A large component of these contributions comes from the ports located in Apapa. These ports contribute over 50% of Nigeria’s port revenue.
Apapa as always is open for business. It has a thriving workforce and is uniquely placed for businesses that support import and export, oil & gas, manufacturing, and more. Apapa is home to numerous financial institutions, shipping companies, import & export businesses, eateries, and restaurants.
Security
Security of lives and property of the citizens of Apapa is a key focus of the Local Government administration. Due to the high number of Federal Government establishments in Apapa, it also benefits from the security apparatus of Lagos State and the Federal Government. Apapa Port Complex
The Apapa Port complex (also referred to as the Lagos Port) is the earliest and largest port in Nigeria. This complex is responsible for over 50% of Nigeria’s port revenue. The Apapa Port is well equipped with modern cargo handling equipment and personnel support facilities making her cost-effective and customer friendly.
Operations at the Port follow a “landlord model”. This was instituted by the Nigerian Government in 2006. This model enables the Government to manage port operations via private terminal operators. Currently, there are 4 private terminal operators:
The Apapa Port Complex also has two (2) Logistics bases – Eko Support Services Ltd, and Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics as well as 8 jetties.
Lagos port complex is registered as an ISPS certified port facility with the International Maritime Organization (IMO).
The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has operational oversight for the Apapa Port Complex.
Health & Environmental Sanitation
Apapa Local Government places a high level of importance on health and environmental sanitation. In line with this, the Council is working with primary schools in Apapa to ensure that first aid care and supplies are on hand at all times.
Apapa is home to numerous privately owned healthcare centres including the Lagoon Hospital. There are also many well-staffed public hospitals and healthcare centres. These include:

Apapa is home to several privately and publicly run schools spanning pre-school/kindergarten to secondary school level. At present, it does not have any tertiary-level institution. Schools in Apapa include:
